Desde hace años, el 6 de enero, es mi celebración favorita. Debe ser desde que probé la rosca de de reyes en México. Hay dos fechas ideales para visitar México: Reyes y el 2 de noviembre, día de difuntos, cuando se hace el pan de muerto…

Bueno, pero este no es texto sobre pan, sino sobre luz… pero hay un pan en Egipto que se cocina con el sol… Disculpen, el pan me roba la concentración, volvamos a la luz.

Es cierto que el 6 de enero para los católicos, y para mí, que disfruto tanto el pan, es el día para conmemorar la visita de los reyes magos al recién nacido niño Juesús, no obstante, para muchas culturas ha sido también el día de la luz, relacionado con el solsticio. De hecho, en la religión católica es una de las tres celebraciones de la epifanía de Jesús, es decir, la revelación de su divinidad.

A mí me ha pasado algo curioso, se ma ha revelado una sabiduría muy importante justo ayer, en la víspera de reyes, cuando me toca cortar rosca con la gente que quiero. La revelación fue personal y quizás algún día escriba sobre ello, pero hoy quiero invitarlos a celebrar la luz, símbolo de la sabiduría, de las revelaciones espirituales y del liderazgo.

Todos tenemos luz dentro de nosotros y la repartimos por el mundo, ayudamos a calentar los corazones de quienes nos rodean, enseñamos lo que hemos aprendido y guiamos a quienes lo necesitan, cuando tenemos oportunidad. O sea, que todos tenemos la llama de la vida dentro de nosotros y esa llama nos une a los demás, a los otros, a esos que muchas veces amamos sin poder entenderlos. Eso es la luz, la llama de la vida, y me parece suficientemente importante como para que la celebremos.

Por otro lado, el 6 de enero parece una fecha excelente para cerrar las vacaciones, los días maravillosos que compartimos con nuestros seres queridos, agradeciendo las bendiciones del año anterior, y también para cerrar la comedera de fin de año… Ahora sí, cuáles eran los propósitos de 2017? A partir de mañana ¡a trabajar! Bueno, esta vez no porque cayó en viernes, pero ya la próxima semana no hay excusa.

Hay que salir a perseguir las metas, que Dios, Allah, Javé, la divinidad, nos de la luz para lograrlas y para amar a los demás, aunque no los comprendamos.

Una vez más: ¡Feliz 2017! que sea un año de luz.

Today is the celebration of the light. My favourite celebration, because light is knowledge, is warming and is guide… And is the day when I eat the wonderful Mexican bread specially baked for the Epiphany of Jesus to the wise men: Rosca de Reyes.

Some years ago I started buying the Rosca de Reyes, to share with family and colleagues in the office, but this year I had my own epiphany. It is personal and maybe another day I’ll write about that. Today I just want to invite you to enjoy a celebration that humanity is doing much before Jesus was born, in some places it was related to the increasing of light after a solstice.

I think is a good moment to end the christmas vacations and all that parties, dinners, lunch and breakfasts we had in the last days of the previous year. We had celebrated and had offered our hearts and respect to divinity for all the blesses we received during the last year. Now we have to start working for all we want in this new year: our goals, our family and friends.

Let’s ask for light to learn, to warm others and to guide when we have the opportunity to guide.

Let’s also ask for light to accept that many times we won’t understand other people actions and thoughts, but we all are part of the same thing, the same specie, the same creation.

Let’s accept that we are not always right and sometimes people are telling us something we are not able to understand.

Let’s ask for light to accept and love each other.

And, of course, let’s ask the blessing of tasting this great Rosca de Reyes, once a year, with our beloved ones.
